〜てのことだ / 〜あってのことだ

Vて + のことだ explains that an action was taken with a certain thought or feeling behind it: 君のことを思ってのことだ = "I did it because I care about you". N + あってのことだ says something exists only thanks to X: 皆さんの支えあってのことです = "entirely thanks to your support". Both put the motive or foundation into focus.

Spoken and written, common in explanations, apologies, and thank-you speeches. Typical verbs: 思って・考えて・心配して・期待して. あってのことだ is formal and appears in speeches and acknowledgements.
