Meaning
"don't have to ~ / need not ~" (absence of obligation).
なくてもいいです means "you don't have to": 明日は来なくてもいいです "You don't have to come tomorrow". Take the ない-form, drop い, add くてもいいです. It is the negative of てもいいです (permission) and the opposite of なければなりません (obligation). Casual: なくていい.
Telling someone something is not required (no need to hurry, no need to take shoes off), and asking whether something is necessary (〜なくてもいいですか).
