Meaning
Plain/casual negative "do not / will not".
The ない-form is the plain (casual) negative: 行かない "don't go", 食べない "don't eat". It means the same as ません but is used with friends and inside other patterns. Group 1 verbs change the last う-sound to the あ-sound and add ない (書く→書かない); verbs ending in う become わない (買う→買わない). Group 2 drops る and adds ない (見る→見ない). する→しない, 来る→こない, and ある→ない.
Casual negative statements, and as the base for ないでください (please don't), なければなりません (must), なくてもいいです (need not) and ないほうがいい (had better not).
