Meaning
Adjectives ending in い conjugate for tense and polarity by themselves.

Unlike English adjectives, they change their own ending for negative and past: 高い "is expensive" → 高くない "is not expensive" → 高かった "was expensive" → 高くなかった "was not expensive". Add です for politeness; です never changes. The one irregular adjective is いい (good): よくない, よかった.
