JLPT N5 tips
On the exam
- Look for a past time word (昨日, 先週, 去年, 前). If the word before the blank is a noun or な-adjective, the answer is でした; if it is an い-adjective, it is かったです.
- Options like 高いでした or きれいかったです look tempting but are always wrong. Decide the adjective type first, then the tense.
