〜とく / 〜どく (contraction of 〜ておく)

Meaning

do… in advance / leave… as is (casual contraction of 〜ておく)

〜とく is the spoken form of 〜ておく: 準備しとく = 準備しておく "I'll get it ready". After a で-type て-form it becomes 〜どく: 読んどく. Requests use 〜といて (= 〜ておいて): 入れといて "put it in (for later)".

Casual conversation, family and workplace chat, listening tests. In writing use 〜ておく. 〜ときます is a casual-polite form common in friendly service situations.
