Meaning
either … or … (for example); … or something
XなりYなり offers two examples of possible options and suggests choosing one of them (or something similar): 先生に聞くなり辞書で調べるなりしなさい. It is used for advice, suggestions and requests, not for reporting past facts.
話し言葉寄り, also in written instructions. The sentence usually ends with a command, suggestion or necessity (〜なさい, 〜たらどうか, 〜てください).
