JLPT N1 tips
On the exam
- If the noun is お礼 / お詫び / ご挨拶 and the verb is 伺う, choose かたがた over がてら.
- Distractors are がてら (register too casual), ついでに (rude) and かたわら (long-term parallel activity).
- The blank is usually directly after the polite noun with no particle.
