〜てもらう "have someone do (something) for me": Same event, different subject: 友達が送ってくれた (friend is subject) = 友達に送ってもらった (I am subject).
From the 〜てもらう "have someone do (something) for me" lesson
〜てくれる "someone does (something) for me": The doer is the subject with が (友達が教えてくれた). With てもらう the doer takes に and the receiver is the subject.
