〜かな / 〜かしら "I wonder…": Also a hope, but casual and spoken (早く来ないかな). ますように is more formal and prayer-like.

- Formation
Plain form + かな: 来るかな, 来たかな, 高いかなNoun / な-adjective + かな (no だ): 雨かな, 大丈夫かな〜かなあ (drawn out) for stronger wondering〜ないかな: a hope (早く終わらないかな)かしら: same uses, feminine

- Expressing a hope or prayer, usually sentence-final, at shrines, New Year, and in cards.
- Formation
V-ます + ように: 合格しますように, 元気になりますようにV-ません + ように: 降りませんようにV-plain + ように (casual): 合格するように, 降らないようにFull sentence: 〜ように祈っています / 〜ようにお祈りします
