  • ✗
    大きいすぎる
    ✓
    大きすぎる

Drop the い of the adjective.
  • ✗
    とても高すぎる (as neutral "very")
    ✓
    とても高い (very) / 高すぎる (too)
    Why
すぎる already means "too"; it is negative, not just "very".

すぎる is a Group 2 verb (すぎます/すぎない/すぎた). いい → よすぎる; ない → なさすぎる. It carries a negative nuance (excess), so use とても for a neutral "very". Noun form: 食べすぎ (overeating), 飲みすぎ.
