〜はずだ
'Should be' — a reasoned expectation, slightly weaker and more neutral.
〜そうだ (appearance)
'Looks like' — describes appearance, not a conclusion drawn from clues.

- Why
- に違いない is for guesses. You do not guess about facts you already know.
Often preceded by an evidence sentence or きっと. 〜たに違いない guesses about the past; 〜ているに違いない about a current state. 〜に相違ない is the stiff written version seen in documents.
JLPT N3 tips
On the exam
- A sentence giving a clue (電気がついている, 足跡がある) followed by a blank almost always wants に違いない or はずだ; if the tone is a firm conclusion, pick に違いない.
- Check the attachment: no な after な-adjectives and no の after nouns. Choices such as 元気なに違いない are traps.
- Do not confuse with 〜に決まっている, which is emotional and often used to scold or insist.
