〜ことから

Meaning

from the fact that; because (the reason for a name/judgment)

〜ことから means "from the fact that…, because…" and gives the evidence or origin behind a judgment, a name, or a result: from the broken window we knew a burglar had entered; because it resembles Mt. Fuji, the mountain is called X-Fuji.

書き言葉寄り, explanatory. Verbs and い-adjectives attach in plain form; な-adjectives and nouns take な / である. The second clause is typically a deduction (〜と分かった・〜と思われる) or an origin (〜と呼ばれる・〜と名付けられた).
