By Nihongo PathUpdated

Meaning

"and so on / etc." — an incomplete list of nouns.

など means "and so on / etc." and goes after the last item in a list of examples: 本やノートなど "books, notebooks and so on". It almost always pairs with や, which already means the list is incomplete. The particle for the whole list comes after など: などが, などを, などへ.

Ending example lists: what is in a room, what you bought, where you want to go, what you like.

Formation

V = verb, N = noun, A = adjective.
