Meaning
(1) for the first time in… (time span); (2) the way one does… / manner of…
〜ぶり has two uses. (1) After a length of time it means "for the first time in": 三年ぶりに帰った "went back for the first time in three years", 久しぶり "long time no see". (2) After a verb stem or noun it means "the way someone does it": 話しぶり "way of speaking", 仕事ぶり "how one works".
Sense 1 is everyday: reunions, weather (十年ぶりの大雪), records. Sense 2 is a bit more descriptive: evaluating someone's performance or manner (働きぶり, 活躍ぶり). Some words take っぷり: 食べっぷり, 飲みっぷり.
